How is the administrative control of a site verified before a certificate is issued?
How is the administrative control of a site verified before a certificate is issued?
Article
With our QuickSSL certificates, we verify the administrative control of a site by sending the approval email for the certificate request to the administrative contact of the domain.
When you review your certificate you will notice that the "Organizational Unit" field has been replaced with the value "Domain Control Validated - Organization Not Validated" and the second organization field will contain "See
http://www.geotrust.com/quickssl/cps
". This means that we did not require you to prove your organization to use because we validated who you were by your domain name. This is part of the reason we can issue certificates so fast.
